The constitution

A constitution is a set of rules that defines a nation and its government.  It grants authority to the government and sets out how it will operate.  Most constitutions are written and are a higher law than ordinary laws that are made by legislatures.  In fact, the U.S. Constitution specifically declares in Article VI that it is the "supreme Law of the Land" and that all judges and state laws shall be bound by the Constitution.  It is also more difficult to change the Constitution than it is to change ordinary laws

 James Madison warned that changing a constitution too often would result in chaos.  On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson argued that constitutions should be rewritten every 20 years or so.  The U.S. Constitution attempts to strike a balance by allowing for "amendments."  Since its ratification, there have been over 10,000 proposals to amend the Constitution, but it has only been amended 27 times and of these, the first ten Amendments (the Bill of Rights) were all added at once.



In the spring of 1638 three Connecticut towns, Windsor, Hartford and Wethersfield, chose representatives and held a general court at Hartford. At its opening session the Reverend Thomas Hooker preached a powerful sermon on the text that "the foundation of authority is laid in the free consent of the people."


On January 14 following, the constitution given here was adopted by the freemen of the three towns assembled at Hartford. Nowhere in this great document is there a reference to "our dread Sovereign" or "our gracious Lord the King," -- nor to any government or power outside of Connecticut itself. It did not even limit the vote to members of Puritan congregations.


In all history this is the first written constitution which created a government, and it is easily seen to be the prototype of our Federal Constitution, adopted exactly one hundred and fifty years later

I personally think that the egyptian government is better off writing the constitution before electing the president in order to insure that he doesn't play around with it for his own personal good. Also it is easier to control a presidents power when he has a set of rules to follow, that way he will not go out of line. 

New year's eve resolution

Im not really a person to make new year's resolution. On the hand I usually make a lot of life changing decisions through out the year. Of course they cant really be life changing unless I actually go through with them which I rarely do. So lets just say that this year's resolution would be to start working on my portfolio for universities. As I had mentioned in posts before I'd like to become an interior designer and in order to get accepted in any university I will need to present a folder that somehow reflects my talents in that area. I have already started with painting, but im not really sure  if that really counts in the folder so I would have to ask around. But I am actually working on a study about fung shway and how the colors and composition of a space can affect the people sitting in it and their actions at the time. However I haven't really had much time to work on that study because of my personal project. Thankfully I just finished the big part of it and I am now free to go deeper and discover more. Also I've been looking for courses I could take at my age, and successfully found one that would teach me the basics of my hopefully future job. I already have a few ideas in mind and cant wait to put them on paper and present them to the word. 

My vacation

Well it is really not easy to write 300 words about my vacations since I was sick for the whole two weeks and spend them in bed. Well I went out once at the very beginning with my best friend Aly. He is currently studying in Germany and had been here for a short visit. I was really glad to see him, but we didn't really do much, we just sat and talked for hours. I was already half sick and too tired for any sort of activity. And after that, things just went downhill, turned my sickness was more serious then i thought at first. And well I just stayed there in bed, watching a lot of movies, one after the other and reading books. 

Globalization

First of all i'd like to start by saying that the article is extremely boring. On the other hand it gave me a lot of information about the theory of globalization, a subject that had never crossed my mind before. I mean I always knew the meaning of the word, but i never really stopped to think about its depth or how it actually affected my country and others around me. Reading this article made me realize that with the growth of globalization came pros and cons. When the whole world started using the concept of exchanging openly all  aspects of life, there came diversity. And with diversity came knowledge and intellectual development. There also came growth in many nations and their building of good for exports stocks which flourished their economy. On the other hand, with globalization came the spread of diseases and the extinction of many live species. Some of the arguments are both good and bad, like when they used to have slave exchanges, this was very dishonorable and inhuman. But on the bright side it created resulted into ethnic population into foreign nations. Furthermore the concept of globalization was used to settle international conflicts instead of using military forces. This helped spread more peace worldwide as it will reduce wars.
